A hidden gem in the Sicilian highlands — the newest town to join the €1 house project, nestled in the lower Madonie mountains with breathtaking panoramic views.
Unlike many Sicilian towns with ancient roots, Valledolmo's history is relatively recent. Until the 16th century, the area was largely uninhabited farmland on the south-western slopes of the lower Madonie mountains. The town was formally established in the 1600s when noble families began settling the fertile highland plateau.
Through the 17th and 18th centuries, Valledolmo grew into a thriving agricultural community. At its peak in the late 19th century, the town had over 8,000 inhabitants. The historic centre features beautiful baroque churches, a traditional piazza, and the characteristic stone architecture of the Sicilian interior.
Like many rural Sicilian towns, Valledolmo saw significant emigration through the 20th century — particularly to the United States, where Rochester, NY has a large Valledolmo diaspora. Today the population stands at around 3,700, and the municipality has embraced the €1 house project to breathe new life into the historic centre.
George was personally contacted by the Mayor of Valledolmo and invited to partner with the town after seeing the work he's been doing in Mussomeli. The local administration reached out directly to explore how they could collaborate to bring international buyers and help regenerate Valledolmo.
Valledolmo is launching a new regeneration project, with properties available in the historic centre. George will reveal the full details — including how many houses are available and what types of properties exist — in the April 26th webinar.
George is working directly with the town's Mayor and local administration. This gives buyers a unique level of access and support that isn't available in other €1 house towns.
George will explain why this project could be one of the most interesting opportunities in Sicily right now, and the long-term vision for the town and why local leaders want international buyers.
The complete breakdown — property availability, how the scheme works, George's partnership with the municipality, and a live Q&A — will all be covered at the April 26th live webinar.
